EDWARD A. SCOFIELD SR., 84, of Lakewood died Jan. 31 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Newark, he lived in Keansburg before moving to Lakewood in 1985. He was general yard master with Penn Central Railroad for 41 years before his retirement in 1977. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166, Lakewood, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brick. He was predeceased by his wife Esther in 1999. Survivors include two sons, Edward A. Scofield Jr. of Cliffwood and Michael Scofield of Brick; six daughters, Rita Nappi of Bradley Beach, Lenore Priola and Judith Hall of Long Branch, Susan McInerney of Monmouth Beach, and Yvonne Adeo and Janice Shields of Tinton Falls; 16 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
