South Jersey Canoe & Kayak Classic June 5

The annual South Jersey Canoe & Kayak Classic will be held at Ocean County Park, Lakewood, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The all-day paddlesport event, run by the environmental recreation staff of the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation, will feature a variety of canoes and kayaks on display for individuals to try on the water and purchase if they wish. Boats, paddles, equipment and other accessories will be on display for purchase. Clinics and demonstrations will also be offered. Food and give-aways will also be available.

Sponsor sought for

senior picnic/health fair

Senior Outreach Services of Brick Township, 373 Adamston Road, is in need of a sponsor for its yearly picnic and health fair planned for September. Sponsorship includes a free table at the health fair, extensive exposure in the media, and a chance to get to know the adult community.

Psychic fair to benefit medical research

Kristy’s Fine Seafood Restaurant, 816 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, will host a Psychic Fair Benefit June 6, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The coordinator of this event is Debi Blackey of Moonlight Enterprises Inc., Jackson.

A portion of the proceeds raised at the fair will benefit the Caffarelli Family Study Research Foundation Inc., a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established to raise awareness about scapuloperoneal muscular dystrophy and fund medical research to find a cure. To date 14 members of the Caffarelli family have been diagnosed with the disease.

Some featured attractions of the event will include psychic readings, tarot cards, astrology and palmistry. Readings are priced at $25 for a 15-minute session. There will be five or six psychics available throughout the day.
