      Distinguished Scholars named at Mon Don

      Thirteen seniors from Monsignor Donovan High School, Toms River, have been named Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars for 2002-2003 through the Garden State Scholarship Program. They are Crystal Adams, Manchester; Allison Bean, Brick; Sam Berberian, Toms River; Keith Cialino, Toms River; Camille D’Andrea, Normandy Beach; Kieran Flemming, Jackson; John Frega, Toms River; Dan Kochis, Jackson; Nicholas Mercurio, Brick; Brent Penman, Island Heights; Peter Romillo, Toms River; Elizabeth Santa-Donato, Point Pleasant; and Callan Wright, Forked River.

      These students placed in the top 10 percent of their class and have a minimum combined SAT score of 1260, or have been ranked first, second or third in their class as of the end of their junior year. Distinguished Scholars are offered an annual award of $1,000 without regard to financial need. Mr. Tom Palguta, guidance counselor, is the Bloustein coordinator for the high school.
