Home Depot would be a plus for town

My taxes have gone up every year for the past three years. Now we have a responsible business like The Home Depot that wants to come into our community, develop a neglected lot, and bring hundreds of jobs to Brick. Not to mention that The Home Depot will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes. Also, if The Home Depot buys this lot, it will cost the citizens of Brick not one cent for development of the property.

This is a no-brainer. Why don’t we survey Lakewood, Toms River, Neptune, Howell, Manahawkin and West Long Branch, all who have Home Depots? Is there any evidence of polluting the town? Are they a good neighbor? Are they involved in the communities?

Every town has a small group of residents who appear to have nothing to do with their time but protest. If not this, they would be protesting a new road, traffic light or a nativity display. Enough is enough.

If that site costs the residents of Brick $6 million, then let the outspoken critics ante up and buy the property. I, for one, do not want to spend my tax money on this.

Let all of the politicians hear this: If our taxes go up because of this careless decision, then you all better feel comfortable in your ability to write your résumé.
