      The Brick Township Recreation Department is now accepting sign-ups for the upcoming summer softball season.

      The Sunday morning men’s league will begin July 6 and will have doubleheaders at 9 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. and end with the playoffs in late August. Men’s Monday or Wednesday leagues will begin in July and play either 6:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. doubleheaders and end with playoffs in late August. Entry fee is $300, payable to Brick-MAC. Sign-ups are now being accepted at the Brick Recreation Department, 270 Chambers Bridge Road (Civic Plaza), Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (732) 262-1072.

      Registration forms are available at schools and the Brick Township Recreation Department for the second annual Brick Township High School girls’ summer basketball camp. The first session, for girls entering fourth through sixth grades this fall, is set for June 30-July 5. The second session, for incoming seventh- and eighth-graders, is set for July 7-11. The registration fee is $95 to preregister, or $110 at the start of the camp.

      Senior softball players are needed/wanted for pickup games/morning workouts Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m to noon at Birchwood Park, Ashwood Drive, in Brick (one block behind the Primary Learning Center). Call (732) 714-7908 for more information.

      Rowers of all ages will gather at Beaton Boat Yard in Brick to experience New Jersey’s largest surfboat rowing event, the third annual New Jersey State Rowing Championships, July 10. The race starts at 9 a.m. (registration at 7:30 a.m.) and covers 7 miles of the open water of Barnegat Bay, passing through 14 communities from the Mantoloking Bridge to Seaside Heights.

      The race, with 11 classes, five age groups and five rowing combinations, attracts top national competitors from New York to Florida.       The U9 girls’ Brick Shooting Stars traveling soccer team is looking for players. The girls play in the Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association. All players must have been born on or after Aug. 1, 1993. Out-of-town players are welcome.
