January programs and events at Brick Library The Brick Branch of the Ocean County Library, 301 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick, will be hosting the following programs during the month of January: • Jan. 15, 10:30 a.m., Preschool story and craft. • Jan. 17, 2 p.m., "Distance Education: Is Online Learning for You?" Presented by Diane Shired of Shi-Red Inc. • Jan. 19, 4 p.m., "Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday," for school-age children. • Jan. 20, 7 p.m., "Secrets of Inspired Career Planning," presented by Bernadette Amato, coordinator of the Community Career Center. A workshop to find out how to get started on the path toward a new career. • Jan. 20, 9-11 a.m., free blood pressure testing provided by the Ocean County Health Department. No appointment needed. • Jan. 21, 7 p.m., "Meet the Mayor." All are welcome to meet with Brick Mayor Joseph C. Scarpelli. • Jan. 22, 3 p.m., "Harry Potter Book Discussion." Grades 3 and up. • Jan. 22, 7-8:30 p.m., "Ever Dream of Being a Mystery Writer?" Creative writing workshop. • Jan. 24, 3 p.m., "Monkey New Year? Lunar New Year!" for children and their families. • Jan. 24, "Lunar New Year Celebration for adults and children," featuring culture exhibition and Chinese zodiac/calligraphy, 2-2:30 p.m. and again at 4-4:30 p.m.; Korean music/dance performance, 2:30-3 p.m.; children’s story and craft program, 3-3:45 p.m. • Jan. 26, 27 or 28 at 10:30 a.m. "Baby’s Nursery Rhyme/Preschool Storytime." Registration begins Jan. 12 at children’s desk and session runs throughout February. January’s display exhibit will feature artwork courtesy of Ocean County Vocational Technical School.
