Sports Shorts Shore Conference bowling champion Jessica Worsley, who led her Brick Memorial High School teammates to the team title, was back in the spotlight when she won the 10th annual Ocean County Junior Masters tournament at Ocean Lanes. In the stepladder tournament, Worsley in the finals beat Karen Grygiel of two-time state champion Brick Township, 195-179. Grygiel reached the final match by knocking off high school teammates Tracy Ganjoin, 213-201, and Hope Biucci, 214-146. Scott Brown of Point Pleasant won the men’s title over Chris Mancilla of Jackson, 224-184. Mancilla got to the final match by knocking off Jim Rogers of Brick Memorial’s state championship team, 256-189, and Mike Haberman of Brick Township High, 222-136, in the semifinal of the stepladder. The Liberty had quite a seventh- and eighth-grade girls BMAC basketball season. The girls won both the league championship (seventh-and eighth-grade division) and the league tournament. The players are Lexy Angelo, Rebecca Roe, Kara DeGorgis, Charissa Contouris, Megan Heerwagen, Lauren Pickowicz, Delia Gallagher, Amber Hessenkemper, Alexis Morano-Buell, Olivia Krupinski and Alyssa Perrotti. The team is coached by Teresa Perrotti and Erin Williams. The Brick B-Mac girls t-ball and softball season begins in April for girls in grades K-12. The suggested donation is $35 for grades K-2, and $50 for grades 3-12. Sign up at the recreation office, of call (732) 262-1095 for more information. The Brick-MAC Adult Softball Leagues are now forming — men’s, Monday; co-ed adult, Tuesday; men’s, Wednesday; women’s, Thursday; men’s 30-and-over, Friday; and men’s, Sunday. All games (16-game seasons) will be played at the Drum Point Road Complex. Weeknight games are 8 p.m. double-headers; men’s Sunday game starts are 9 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Entry fees are $300, payable to Brick-MAC upon entry. All teams supply their own balls (.47 core).
