      Life saving courses offered in Lakewood
      Community Bulletin Board Life saving courses offered in Lakewood

      Lakewood Community School, in conjunction with Lifeforce USA, is now taking registration for several life saving courses offered this spring as part of the Adult Enrichment program. In compliance with the American Heart Association CPR Adult Heartsaver, CPR Healthcare Provider and/or Renewal, CPR Pediatric; Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillator (AED); and Basic First Aid are scheduled.       Personal watercraft and boating safety course

      The Lakewood Community School is currently accepting registration for a two-night personal watercraft and boating safety course to be held at Lakewood High School, Somerset Avenue, 6:10 p.m., March 29 and 30. This course is recognized in all states requiring a watercraft/boating safety course. Upon successful completion, a lifetime certificate will be awarded entitling the student to a 15 percent premium discount annually on their boat insurance policy.       Community swim

      lessons offered at YMCA

      The Ocean County YMCA will be hosting "Learn to Swim Week" April 5-8 and May 17-20 at either 3-3:30 p.m. or 3:30-4 p.m. Participants may register for one day and time slot.

      "Learn to Swim" is a swim lesson program open to the public for ages 3-14. The program is open to members and nonmembers who cannot swim the full length (25 yards) of the YMCA pool. There is a $5 nonrefundable registration fee per child to hold the spot in the program.

      Registration is currently being accepted and must be done in person at the YMCA, 1088 W. Whitty Road, Toms River, because a guardian’s signature is required. Early registration is suggested because the program fills quickly. Details: (732) 341-9622 ext. 0.
