Vehicle overturns in accident BRICK — A township woman escaped serious injuries during an accident that overturned her vehicle near the intersection of Drum Point Road and Baywood Boulevard last week. Police said the 46-year-old woman was traveling north on Drum Point Road around 10 a.m. June 15 when William Matteucci, 58, of Brick, failed to stop at the end of Baywood Boulevard and entered into her path. Matteucci collided with the woman in the northbound lane, causing her vehicle to roll on to its passenger side and slide into the curb on Drum Point Road. Brick patrolmen Richard Nelson Sr. and Dan Waleski entered the woman’s 1993 Dodge Caravan and stabilized her until the arrival of first aid teams. Members of the Pioneer Hose Fire Company used the Jaws of Life machine to remove the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle, according to police reports. Matteucci was issued a summons for failure to stop, according to Brick police Lt. Douglas Kinney. The woman was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment of arm and leg fractures. Matteucci was treated at the scene for a minor hand injury, according to police. Officers Jeff Lindquist and Jay Lampiasi of the Brick Police Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the accident. — Karl Vilacoba |
