Master Gardeners to host Fall Garden Day Sept. 19
The Ocean County Master Gardeners will host its Fall Garden Day Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Agricultural Extension Building, 1623 Whitesville Road, Toms River. Admission is free. The event will include displays, demonstrations and lectures on a wide variety of gardening topics including how to dry and save herbs, composting, fall lawn care, OceanGro, and soil testing. A recipe book will also be available for purchase for $12. Master gardeners provide many services for the community, including answering questions on the Help Line, (732) 349-1245, providing information at community events, and educating children with the V.I.B. (Very Important Bug) puppet show. Its gardens and greenhouse at Ocean County Park provide plants for the annual plant fair and vegetables to local food banks. Details: (732) 349-1246.
