      ‘A Songwriter’s Night’ slated for Oct. 28

    • Area songwriters, in conjunction with “Songwriter’s Block” will sponsor and perform “A Songwriter’s Night” Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. The event is a fund-raiser for the daughter of local musician and fellow songwriter Tony Guadagno, who passed away suddenly Oct. 1. The free event will be at Nauvoo Grill, 121 Fair Haven Road, Fair Haven. Donations may be made directly to Alexandra Guadagno Trust, Box 404, Monmouth Beach 07750.
    • Performing will be George Severini, Tim McLoone and Andy McDonough. The performance marks the first in a series of songwriter’s nights and to accept donations to the Alexandra Guadagno Fund.

      Anthony “Tony” Xavier Guadagno, formerly of Colts Neck, resided in Brick with his wife, Cheryl, and was a project manager in information systems at Prudential, Holmdel, the last 10 years. He had a great love of music and enjoyed teaching it and sharing it with his daughter. Songwriter’s Block is a Web site devoted to the support of songwriters and fans of original music. It is maintained by songwriter Andy McDonough, Middletown. It advertises local, original music events; articles on songwriting; and other information.       1830s All Hallows Eve

      at Allaire State Park

      Allaire Village Inc., the nonprofit group supporting the educational programming at The Historic Village at Allaire State Park, Route 524, Wall Township, will present “All Hallows Eve in the 1830s” Oct. 30 from noon to 4 p.m. The event will be a living-history recreation of 19th-century Halloween activities held in the restored iron works company town. Visitors can bob for apples, take part in 19th-century games, and listen to traditional Halloween stories by storyteller Maria Larson. There will be demonstrations of cider pressing and butter churning. A costume parade and contest is also planned for 2:30 p.m. Everyone who participates in the costume parade will receive a prize. In addition, children are invited to paint their own pumpkins, which will be provide by Allaire Village Inc. (the total number of pumpkins available will be 500) The pumpkin painting times will be staggered to eliminate crowding at the painting tables.
