      Thanksgiving meals available at no charge

      Ocean County Hunger Relief has announced that the following local locations will be providing free Thanksgiving meals Nov. 25, unless otherwise noted:

      • Church of Epiphany, Thiele Road, Brick, noon. Details: (732) 458-0220. Transportation will be provided upon request.

      • Macedonia Baptist Church, 143 John St., Lakewood, 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Details: (732) 269-9850. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and deliver meals.

      • Upper Room, East Fourth Street, Lakewood, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Details: (732) 929-8107.

      • Salvation Army/Hearty Helpings, 1738 Route 37 east, Toms River, Nov. 24, 5-7 p.m. Details: (732) 270-8393.

      • Jackson Senior Center, Don Connor Boulevard, Jackson, noon. Call (732) 928-2313 for reservations.

      Toy drive being held

      to benefit DYFS

      Atlantic Coast Chiropractic is currently conducting a toy drive through Dec. 15 at its office located at the Pavilion Professional Center, 74 Brick Blvd., Suite 104, Brick. The toys will be donated to the state Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). Details: (732) 477-5888.

      Red Cross seeks blood services volunteers

      The Jersey Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently recruiting volunteers to help work at blood mobiles in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

      The hours are flexible, requiring only five hours one or two times a month. Duties would include: registering donors as they come in to donate blood, escorting donors from the donor bed to the refreshment area and working in the refreshment area.

      Volunteer drivers are also being sought to be part of a team that picks up and delivers blood donations from blood mobile sites in the Jersey Coast Area to the Musser Blood Center in Philadelphia. Requirements to qualify include a valid driver’s license, a good driving record dependability. There is a reimbursement program for mileage expenses.
