Traffic endangers safety of Brick children

Keep building and ignore the traffic concerns. We have been informed it is good for us because it keeps our taxes down. Yeah, great job. Explain why we have lower taxes, but our children are not able to walk and cross our streets? Why? Should they not be able to? Is that not our children’s right?

We are told we have a town where our kids are safe. Well, guess what? They are not. Another child was recently hit by a motor vehicle. That seems to be a normal day in Brick. The only difference is the child was 12 years old, and he died this time; his name was Michael. If this seems normal to you, just another day in Brick, wake up — a child died.

Just make sure you said goodbye and kissed your son or daughter today because Michael’s parents will never have that chance again. If you live in Brick, it seems children are easy pickings. But you know what? They are keeping our taxes down. I would rather pay more taxes than save money risking my child’s safety.

I am a mother of a child who was seriously injured crossing the street in Brick.
