A light at intersection is a good idea

I drive on Princeton Avenue many times a day. Many times I’ve thought: “Why don’t they put up a light here?” Of course I’m talking about Bushy Neck Drive. Too many times did I find myself braking because of a car halfway in the road or pulling out. I would get so annoyed at those “people” – until one day I forgot my paperwork and needed to go home. Guess where I turned around? That was when I realized the limited visibility.

So, as I saw the signs for “no traffic light,” I couldn’t believe it. I thought, sure kids might have to walk another block or two for the bus stop. Perhaps the light might cause someone to draw their curtains or blinds, which normal people do at night anyhow. Yet, it feels they miss the issue of safety, maybe even the wisdom to pick the lesser of two evils. Because, like the light or not, I’d be proud that I supported something that could save lives – especially those of a child.

Because, if their child was hit, God forbid, those signs would quickly change to “Get a light, save our child.” Maybe today, people are too stubborn and afraid of change.
