Lady of America, a women’s fitness club, has volunteered to donate free memberships to the spouses of military personnel that have been deployed overseas, as a way of thanking them for their dedication and hard work. With more than 1,500 locations, individuals wishing to take advantage of this offer need only to bring proper documentation to the facility located at 55 Brick Blvd., Brick, in the Burlington Coat Factory shopping center. Details: (732) 255-3400.

Annemarie Schreiber, Esq., an attorney with the law firm of Carloccio, Leone, Dimon, Doyle & Sacks, Toms River, recently joined the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Inc. (NAELA). NAELA is a professional association open to attorneys who work with older clients and their families, and who are concerned with improving legal services for the elderly.

Through NAELA, attorneys can access information on elder law issues. The legal needs of the elderly may include age discrimination in employment, elder abuse, documents that can help those who are caring for the elderly person such as estate planning, trusts, wills, probate and durable power of attorney; health care decisions that include nursing home law or long-term care; and public benefits and trusts such as Medicare and Medicaid among others.

According to Schreiber, the comprehensive set of laws and protections that are available to the older population can be confusing for the senior population and they often need representation and assistance in understanding them.

Schreiber, who has more than 13 years of legal experience, is focusing her practice on elder law. She is in the process of becoming a certified registered guardian.

Schreiber was graduated from Brick High School in 1981. She holds a bachelor of science degree in consumer economics from the University of Delaware and was graduated from Widner Law School, Wilmington, Del., in 1991.
