      Woman leaves OCC foundation $151,000

The Ocean County College (OCC) Foundation recently accepted a donation of $151,000 from the estate of Johanna Adam.

Sandy Broughton, executive director of the OCC Foundation explained that Adam was 101 years old when she passed away. She was a German immigrant with no children but had strong ties to the community and had great concern for needy students.

According to Broughton, Adam left 60 percent of her estate to family and 40 percent to charities. She had been a seamstress and her late husband, Otto, worked for Con-Ed. Outliving most of her friends and neighbors, Adam has one living nephew, but at the time of her death, she did not know if he was in Germany or the United States.

Both Mrs. Adam and her husband were hard workers and saved a considerable amount of money, said Broughton.

According the press release, the OCC Foundation is grateful for being remembered in Mrs. Adam’s will. The money will be used to assist students to attain their dream of a college education. For more information on planned giving, call the Ocean County College Foundation at (732) 255-0492.
