      Katherine R. Schenck

      Mrs. Schenck, 76, of Freehold Township, died April 20 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Asbury Park, she had lived in Ocean Grove before moving to Freehold Township. Prior to retiring 20 years ago, she was a senior probate clerk for the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office, Freehold, where she was employed for more than 20 years. She had also sold Sarah Coventry jewelry in the late 1950s. Mrs. Schenck was a member of First United Methodist Church, Freehold, and was also very active in Order of the Eastern Star, Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198, Freehold. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, as well as a member of the Molly Pitcher Stitchers quilting club. Mrs. Schenck was predeceased in 1993 by her husband, Karl Symmes Schenck. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Karl Richard and Marlene Schenck of Chazy, N.Y.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy A. and Robert A. Kregg of Sea Girt and Janet and John S. Shikoluk of Brick; a brother, William Romer of Calabash, N.C.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at First United Methodist Church, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902; the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset 08873; the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind, P.O. Box 929, Denville 07834; or First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold 07728.

      Robert E. Bell

      Mr. Bell, 73, of Old Bridge, died April 27 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Della Bell; three daughters, Deborah O’Brien of Ossining, N.Y., Sue Ellen Savitsky of the Toms River section of Dover and Bonnie Lally of Brick; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Joyce Sprague, both of East Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

      Thomas J. Marine

      Mr. Marine, 82, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died April 24 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. His wife, Rita, died in 2003. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Gulzeth of Brick and Joanne Della Pietro of Keyport; a son, Bill of Cream Ridge; and two grandchildren, Terrence McCarthy and Tiffany Gulzeth. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
