      June programs and events planned at Brick Library

      The Brick Branch of the Ocean County Library, 301 Chambers Bridge Road, has announced its schedule of free events and programs for June. Registration is required unless otherwise noted. Call the library at (732) 477-4513 for registration and details.

      •June 1, Friends of the Library meeting, 11 a.m.

      •June 1, 3 p.m., “Adult Book CafĂ©”

      •June 2, 10 a.m., “Arline Wasserman’s Book Discussion” will discuss “Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now,” by Maya Angelou.

      •June 4, 11 a.m., “Meet the Author,” Mistie Rowe.

      •June 6, 7 p.m., Mother/Daughter Book Club for girls ages 10-14 will discuss “Bloody Jack,” by L.A. Meyer.

      •June 7, 6:30 p.m., “Dance Party in Brick,” for the whole family.

      •June 8, 7 p.m., “Balancing Hormones Naturally,” presented by Theodore Koziol.

      •June 9, 7-8:30 p.m., “Report Card Night.”

      •June 11, 2 p.m., classical guitar concert by Robert Dolpira.

      •June 11, 10 a.m., book discussion group sponsored by the Monmouth Girl Scout Council and the Brick Library.

      •June 16, 3:30 p.m., summer reading kickoff party for all ages.

      •June 16, 7 p.m., “Identity Theft, Computer Fraud and Five other Financial Secrets to Keep You Sleeping Soundly,” presented by financial adviser John Barrett, accompanied by an FBI agent from Red Bank.

      •June 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Juneteenth Drop-in Craft,” for all ages.

      •June 18, 2 p.m., long-term care seminar presented by Met Life.

      •June 20, 10:30 a.m., “Sing and Dance a Summer Song,” for ages 0-5.

      •June 21, 9-11 a.m., free blood-pressure screening provided by the Ocean County Health Department. No appointment necessary.

      •June 21 and 28, “10:30 a.m., “Build Your Own Castle,” for ages 10 and up.

      •June 22, 10:30 a.m., “Pocket Dragon Fun,” for ages 6 and up.

      •June 22, drop-in 7 p.m., “Sweet Dreams Story Time,” for ages 2 and up.

      •June 24, collection of books for used book sale. Donations of children’s books, special interests, crafts, hobbies, novels and any other reading material are sought. No textbooks, Readers Digests, or damaged/marked books. Book/VHS donations will be appreciated. This is the only day to drop off books.

      •June 25, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Used Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Brick Library. All paperback books will sell for 25 cents and hard covers will be 50 cents. VHS tapes will be sold for 50 cents.

      •June 27, 10:30 a.m., “Sons of the Dragon King Puppet Show,” for ages 4 and up.

      •June 28, 3:30 p.m., “King and Queen for a Day,” for families.

      •June 29, 2:30 p.m., “From Amelia to Lollipop Bookworm Club,” for ages 6 and up.

      •June 30, 10:30 a.m., “Dragon Egg Hunt,” for ages 3 to 5.

      •June 30, 7 p.m., SAIL (Service and Achievement in the Library) Teens and Reading Buddies join forces for fun at the library.
