Navy Historical Society dinner slated for May 7

The Navy Lakehurst Historical Society (NLHS) will sponsor a dinner May 7 to honor Capt. Mark L. Bathrick, USN, CO, NAES Lakehurst and to celebrate the first anniversary of its Heritage Information Center.

The dinner will be held at the Quality Inn, 815 Route 37 east, Toms River. Guests are welcome and door prizes will be awarded. There will be a cash bar from 6-7 p.m., followed by dinner. Tickets are limited. Details: (732) 244-8861, or visit www.NLHS.com.

The dinner will also remember all of the U.S. Navy LTA (Lighter Than Air) losses including the loss of the Hindenburg. The Anonymous Four, a local barbershop quartet will provide entertainment. Their performance will be followed by a memorial service for all U.S. Military Personnel who have been lost during Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan. Lee Humiston, will make a special POW and MIA presentation as well.

NLHS Historian, Rick Zitarosa, will present a special program covering the history of the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society, including the future of NLHS and NAES Lakehurst.
