The Brick Community Players will present a reading of Neil Simon’s “Rumors” May 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, 515 Herbertsville Road in Brick. One-day boating courses to be offered locally
The members of USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 1601 will hold the following one-day “America’s Boating Courses.” All courses will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registration fee of $55 will include lunch. The course will satisfy the state requirements for a boating certificate.

‘Step Up for The Arc
Walk 2005’ May 14
The Arc of Ocean County has announced that “Step Up for The Arc Walk 2005 will take place May 14 at 8 a.m. at Pine Park on County Line Road in Lakewood. Many local and statewide sponsors have offered their support for this event that benefits people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.
All Ocean County residents and establishments are invited to join families of The Arc and Al Leiter, Major League Baseball pitcher and walk spokesperson, as they raise money for The Arc. Lifeguard rowing event in Brick & Seaside July 13
Lifeguards and recreational rowers of all ages will gather at Beaton Boat Yard in Brick July 13 at 9 a.m. (registration is 7:30-8:45 a.m.) to compete in a surfboat rowing event. Viking Promotions’ signature event, the New Jersey State Rowing Championships, covers seven miles of the open waters of Barnegat Bay, passing through 14 beach communities from the Mantoloking Bridge to Seaside Heights.
The fee to enter is $25 in advance or $35 on race day. This fifth annual race — with 12 boat classes, five age groups and five rowing combinations — is open to any type of rowing craft.
