Auditions

Premier Theatre Company will hold auditions at the Henderson Theatre, 850 Newman Springs Road (Route 520), Lincroft, for three summer shows — “Pippin,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” — as well as the holiday favorite “Scrooge, the Musical” and, new for this season, Children’s Theatre productions of “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

Auditions for adults and teens will be held May 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and May 14 at 1 p.m.; auditions for children under age 14 will be held May 14 at 10 a.m. All auditioners should bring a maximum of 16 bars of music of preferably an up-tempo show tune and be prepared to dance. Ocean County College will hold open auditions for its summer musical, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” May 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m., with callbacks May 18 at 7:30 p.m. There are available parts for 13 males and 14 females. Auditions are open to all and will be held in the OCC Fine Arts Center Theatre, College Drive, Toms River. No calls; just show up. Scripts are on reserve in the OCC library. Performance dates are July 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. and July 10 at 2 p.m.

HTC Productions will hold auditions for ages 16 and up for its July production of “Footloose.” Auditions will be held May 16, 17 and 18, 7 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Central Avenue, Lakewood. The Villagers Theatre is recruiting teens ages 13-19 to participate in the 2005 TeensVill production of “The Wiz,” which will be performed July 29-Aug. 14 at the Villagers Theatre in Somerset. Needed are teens interested in becoming a member of the production staff — creative teens who enjoy working behind the scenes and have no desire to perform. Available positions include assistants to the director, choreographer, producer, musical director, stage manager, lighting and sound operators, props master, stage crew, and others. Interested teens should send a résumé with a letter indicating what their area of interest may be and why they would be interested in joining the production staff. Interviews will be arranged as résumés are received. Those selected will be mentored and trained throughout the production by an adult staff member. The deadline for receipt of résumés is May 6. The Heart of New Jersey Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members. There are openings in all voice parts. The chorus recently returned from its annual competition and received the Most Improved Chorus award as well as ribbons for second place in the Small Chorus category. The Villagers Theatre, Somerset, will hold auditions for “Gemini” May 16 and 19 at 7 p.m. at the theater, 415 DeMott Lane. Rehearsals will begin May 24, and performances are scheduled for July 8-23. The setting for the play is the Geminiani and Weinberger families’ back yard in south Philadelphia in 1973. Those auditioning should be aware that the play contains ethnic humor, stereotypes, the “f” word and has a homosexual undertone. The Monmouth County Park System will hold auditions for its summer musical production, “Pippin,” June 4 and 5 at 6 p.m. at the Tatum Park Red Hill Activity Center, Red Hill Road, Middletown. The show will be staged at The Barn at Thompson Park, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Show dates are Thursdays through Sundays, July 28-Aug. 14.
