Brick Recreation Dept. has summer jobs available
The Brick Township Recreation Department is now accepting applications for summer employment for lifeguards, camp counselors and beach badge checkers. Summer playground camp begins July 5 and runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Aug. 11 at Windward Beach. Counselors for Windward Beach must be 15 years of age or older and reside in Brick Township. Applications are also being accepted for lifeguards and badge checkers at Brick Township's three ocean beaches. Badge checkers must be 16 years of age or older. Lifeguards must be 16 or older and certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid, automated external defibrillator (AED), and oxygen. They must also pass a health physical and be able to complete the 500 meter swim and one mile run in required time. All recreation department summer staff 18 years of age or older must also be fingerprinted and pass a criminal history background check. In all cases, Brick Township residents are preferred. Applications are available in the recreation office in Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, or at the Brick Township Municipal Building, 401 Chambers Bridge Road. Interested applicants should submit a completed application, including a copy of their Social Security card, driver's license (if applicable), current report card and working papers (under 18 only). Details: (732) 262-1073. Lanes Mills PTA offers scholarship to h.s. seniors The Lanes Mill School PTA would like to present a graduating high school senior with a $500 scholarship. In order to be eligible to receive the scholarship, applicants must have attended Lanes Mill School, Brick, for a minimum of three years. In addition, a 300-word essay must be submitted. The topic of the essay must be, "What event(s) and/or experience(s) started you in the direction of your career choice?" Applications are available at the local high school guidance offices. and should also include two teacher endorsements, a copy of a college acceptance letter, and a transcript of high school grades. Applications must be returned to the high school guidance office by May 19. Brick Community Players to hold auditions
The Brick Community Players will be holding auditions for the Broadway revival production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" April 5 and 6 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Route 88, Point Pleasant beginning at 7 p.m. Thirteen men and 8 women are needed in addition to a chorus of men and women. Those who audition should be prepared to sing and dance. Accompaniment will be provided. The show will be performed in Brick on July 7, 8, 14, and 15. Details: (732) 840-3515.
