Pt. Pleasant Beach VFW to honor fallen veterans

The Sgt. Alan D. Sherman Detachment of the Marine Corps League will join the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4715 of Point Pleasant Beach will honor fallen veterans during a memorial service at 11 a.m. May 27 at Veterans Memorial Park, Arnold Avenue (Purple Heart Boulevard) at Baltimore Avenue.

There will be an unveiling and dedication of a stone-mounted plaque memorializing Sgt. Alan D. Sherman, past commandant of the Ocean County Detachment of the Marine Corps League, who was killed in 2004 during his second tour with the Marines in Iraq.
