Walter A. Hastings Jr. Mr. Hastings, 57, of East Brunswick, died May 27 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. The owner of Walt's Organ Service, he also was employed by MidState Bowl, East Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Mozdzen Hastings; a son, Walter Hastings III; four daughters, Donna Doubt of Brick, and Christine Estevez, Noelle LeBuis and Wendy Hastings, all of East Brunswick; his mother, Ruth Hastings of East Brunswick; a brother, Andrew Hastings of Florida; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
Laura Conway Ms. Conway, 29, of Brick, died June 14 in Sausalito, Calif. Born in Rahway, she had lived in Farmingdale and Toms River before moving to Brick in 2003. A 1995 graduate of Howell High School, she graduated in 1999 from Georgian Court College (now University), Lakewood, and was pursuing a master's degree in social work at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, at the time of her death. She was a foster care recruiter for the Division of Youth & Family Services (DYFS), Northern Ocean County division, and had previously worked as a family service specialist for DYFS' Southern Monmouth County division. She had also taught third grade at Ardena Elementary School in Howell. Surviving are her life partner, Tammy Schuber of Brick; her parents, Irene and Edward Conway of Howell; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Kim Conway of Albrightsville, Pa.; a sister, Kathy Conway of Farmingdale; her maternal grandparents, Tessie and Al Haligowski of Whiting; her life partner's parents, June and Edward Schuber of Toms River; an uncle, Daniel Conway of Lakewood; and two nieces and a nephew. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale, with the Rev. Michael Vona officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements.
