Resident: Boot Attorney General Farber out of office

State Attorney General Zulima Farber should be forced to resign. As New Jersey's chief law enforcement officer, she has set a poor example for her subordinates and the citizens of this state.

A scofflaw herself, as evidenced by the bench warrant issued for her arrest due to unpaid tickets, she is soft on crime. In a state where graft and corruption have eroded the confidence and morale of the citizenry, this is intolerable. Her stance on mandatory sentences and pension forfeiture for corrupt politicians is inexplicable. Farber contends that if a politician is honest for 30 years, and doesn't become corrupt until his 31st year, he or she deserves compassion and leniency!?!

Public servants should be held to higher standards than the average citizen. They do not deserve leniency. One could make a similar argument on behalf of a 25-year-old man who was a law abiding Boy Scout for 24 years. So what if he committed armed robbery when he was 25. He was so good for so long ...

The icing on the cake is the manner in which she handled the situation when her boyfriend was pulled over in a traffic stop. Police issued summonses and prepared to impound the vehicle because it was not properly registered. Farber rushes to the scene, accompanied by a state trooper and the mayor of the municipality in which the violation occurred. The officer cut her boyfriend a break. Tickets were voided and the car was not impounded.

Aren't the rest of us entitled to a "get out of jail free" card for the first time we forget to register our automobile? Furthermore, when did "forgetting" to register your car become no big deal? And for her statement that her actions were in no way intended to manipulate the officer into letting her boyfriend off the hook is ludicrous. Farber lacks the honesty and integrity to serve the people of New Jersey as attorney general. The faster she resigns, the better.
