Grace Darton Golden

Mrs. Golden, 81, of Brick, died May 11 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was raised in Queens, N.Y., and had resided in Nutley, Essex County, before moving to Brick 32 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1991, she was a bookkeeper for Chesterfield Associates, Freehold Township, for many years. She was also an avid gardener and an animal lover. Mrs. Golden was predeceased in 1984 by her husband, George Golden. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and John Pacholek of East Brunswick; a granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Richard Borsuk; and a grandson, Michael Pacholek. A funeral service was held at Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. Memorial donations may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O. Box 43, Forked River 08731; or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.

Margaret G. McCarthy

Mrs. McCarthy, 79, of Freehold, died May 10 at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Jersey City, she had lived there before moving to Freehold. Mrs. McCarthy was a customer service representative for Sears, Union City, before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, St. Rose of Lima Senior Citizens Club, Freehold Township Senior Citizens Club, Court St. Rose of Lima Catholic Daughters of the Americas No. 737, St. Rose of Lima Rosary Altar Society, SCAN Senior Citizens, Eatontown, and Royal Arcanum. She also was a representative to the Monmouth County Office on Aging and a member of Stage Struck Strutters. Mrs. McCarthy was predeceased by her husband, George E. McCarthy, in 1991. Surviving are two sons, Robert G. McCarthy of Clark Summit, Pa., and Timothy J. McCarthy of Brick Township; three daughters, Diane R. McCarthy of Toms River, Maureen D'Arienzo of Wyckoff, and Susan Arillo of Little Falls; a sister, Rita Sabella of Harrington Park; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to the Jerry McCarthy Arts and Entertainment Fund to benefit the program at Brandywine Assisted Living at The Gables, Attn: Ulla Melyan, 515 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick 08724. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Catherine Steib

Mrs. Steib, 75, of Howell, died May 6 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Marlboro and Middletown before moving to The Villages in Howell in 1998. Before retiring in 1981, Mrs. Steib was the owner of Award Concepts, Eatontown. An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Bamm Hollow and Beacon Hill country clubs. Mrs. Steib was predeceased by her husband, John Steib; and a brother, Joseph Kelly. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Froehlich of Statesville, N.C., and Glenn Froehlich of Brick; two daughters, Cynthia Cook of Paris, N.Y., and Kathleen Flynn of Freehold; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, both in Freehold Township.

Joseph Musso

Mr. Musso, 75, of Farmingdale, died April 26 at home. Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Elizabeth's Peterstown section before moving to Farmingdale in 1963. Prior to retiring in 1994, he was a self-employed ceramic tile contractor. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale; a past commander and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9691, Howell; and a member of American Legion Post 78, Farmingdale. Mr. Musso was predeceased by his wife, Alice, in 1994; a brother, Pat Musso; and a sister, Mary Chokov. Surviving are a son, Joseph Musso Jr. of Bradley Beach; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia and Richard Silvani of Farmingdale, Susan and Ed Silva of Fall River, Mass., and Deborah Strawder of Brick; a sister, Anna Rivers of the Colonia section of Woodbridge; and three grandsons. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, Farmingdale, with the Rev. Michael Vona officiating. Interment followed at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas J. Mazza

Mr. Mazza, 45, of Middletown, died April 25 at home. Born in Chester, Pa., he had resided in the Leonardo section of Middletown before moving to Middletown 10 years ago. Mr. Mazza was a land development superintendent at K. Hovnanian Homes, Manalapan. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas S. Mazza, in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Donna Nemeth Mazza, and a son and daughter, Nicholas J. and Rachel Mazza, all of Middletown; his mother, Barbara Mazza of Leonardo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael F. and Christina Mazza of Hazlet, and Charles and Debbie Mazza of Brick; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
