Five percent teachers' raise 'irresponsible'

The school budget was defeated this past year. But guess what? The taxpayers in our fair, elite community are in for a rough ride.

It seems that our school board has deemed it just that all teachers in Brick Township deserve a 5 percent raise over each of the next three years, a pension increase, top pay after eight years, and no loss of medical benefits for life. Where do I sign up?

I personally can not remember the last time I received a 5 percent raise. All I know is that my taxes have gone up over 100 percent since I moved here 11 years ago. I think that this is an irresponsible act that was slipped under our noses by our school board. Where will this money come from? I leave it up to you taxpayers to decide.
