'Funky' flea market,

'counterculture' arts fest

Om Baby Studio, 726A Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, will host its second "Counter Culture Arts Festival and Funky Flea Market" Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. The eclectic festival, which is open to the public, will showcase a mix of "lowbrow" art, music, film and collectibles.

The inaugural festival took place in June, drawing more than 150 visitors to Om Baby Studio, which offers classes seven days a week to adults and children of all ages.

At the upcoming festival, the studio will unveil the Hundred-Dollar Art Show - artwork for sale at $100 or less. Featured artists will be Carrie Ann Baade and John Kolbek. In addition, 15 vendors of handmade crafts and pop culture artifacts will exhibit their creations at the studio alongside musicians, dancers and other performers.

The event also gives local artists who don't necessarily paint or create music full time, a venue to display and sell their work.

Visitors to the festival can shop for one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art while they listen to music, view films, and look at the art hanging on the walls, according to Goetchius.

Admission to the festival and flea market is $5, which includes refreshments and live entertainment. Details: (732) 899-YOGA (9642) or stop by the studio. Inquiries from artists, instructors, performers and writers interested in partnering with Om Baby Studio are welcome.
