Acropolis supporter rebuts Underwood's rebuttal Hey, I read that ex-Councilman Fred Underwood is again in circulation. Where ya been, Fred? I hope you're feeling good. Your letter to the editor ("Underwood takes another jab at Acropolis" Sept. 14) concerning Brick Councilman Steve Acropolis was just a tad slanted, don't you think? Where were you hiding all these days, weeks or months? Come on, Fred, who helped you? Don't tell me you did it yourself. Naw. I do not wish to speak for Steve Acropolis or even reason what he had or has in mind concerning the revaluation postponement. Steve isn't bashful. I'm sure that he will give you an answer; he gave me one, and it makes sense for all in Brick. Actually I have composed this letter with the hope that it will get published in order to chastise your rather rude wording in your letter ("Acropolis sought revaluation delay for personal reasons" Aug. 17) sent to the local papers. You characterized Councilman Acropolis as being "handled" ("Steve Acropolis may make his handlers in Toms River unhappy".) Fred, this is not the way an ex-educator should be talking about anyone. A horse is handled, so too a dog or other animals, but not a human. You goofed, Fred. Additionally, your Sept. 14 edition of "Acropolis banging" is rather comical in that you remind me of a certain type of termite who, when it knows it is dying, creates more destruction in its short time than it has ever done in its entire life span. You've had it politically and you know it. It was you, you "triple dipper," who chose not to run for re-election, and it is my contention that you would have lost big time; therefore, you made a comment that your family wanted you to disengage itself from political mudslinging. You almost cried that night. Who's slinging the mud now? A passage from the Bible says: "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." You hit the nail right on the head by stating that the majority of those who live on the barrier island vote Republican. You made a statement that this was the reason Steve Acropolis is protecting them. Only you turned it around by interjecting politics into the equation instead of thinking safety. Finally, I admit that I am a sort of "minion" but not in the sense of your twisted way of thinking. I am subordinate to God first and then to my country and to the persons we elected to serve us. In the case of you comparing those of us who you called a subordinate or follower, I'll graciously admit to this but not on a lower level on the scale of life as you reasoned it to be.
