| The Georgian Court University M. Christina Geis Art Gallery will host "Fiber Revolution: A Survey of Styles" from Oct. 1-30. The exhibit will feature the works of two dozen "fiber artists," including area artists Patricia C. Dolan of Manalapan and Kevan Rupp Lunney of East Brunswick.
All participating artists are members of Fiber Revolution, a network of nearly three dozen artists from five northeastern states who exhibit and market their artwork together, and inform the public of the art quilt movement.
The members work in a variety of disciplines, from artistic fields such as painting or sculpture to those with a sewing, fashion design, or traditional quilt-making background. As in traditional quilts, their artwork comprises two or more layers of fabric held together with stitches. Their original works of art are meant to hang on the wall.
Also participating in the show will be artists Virginia Abrams, Lisa Chipetine, Rachel B. Cochran, Barbara Corrigan, Judy Cuddihee, Nike Cutsumpas, C. Susan Ferraro, Melissa C. Fowler, Cindy Friedman, Antoinette Hall, Jutta Halpin, Gloria Hansen, Judy Langille, Katharina Litchman, Barbara Barrick McKie, Jeri Riggs, Carol Sara Schepps, Deborah Schwartzman, Martha Sielman, Melanie Testa, Carolyn Lee Vehslage and Elin Waterston.

| All of the pieces in the show, known as textile art, are constructed using various fabrics, fibers, papers, threads, and other embellishments. Materials used in the making of the works include hand-dyed and hand-painted cottons, upholstery fabrics, polyester, silks, taffeta, organza, mohair, rayon, mud cloth, paper, and yarns. The works are stitched, glued, quilted, embellished, beaded, embroidered and painted. Some include such nontraditional items as recycled computer, audio, and video media, slide, film, negatives, computer and electrical wires.
The event will kick off with an opening reception on Oct. 5 from 4-6 p.m. In conjunction with the exhibit, Dolan and Lunney will present a lecture on fiber art in the Georgian Court Arts and Science Center on Oct. 5 from 2-3 p.m.
"Pat Dolan brings her great background in spirituality and native cultures to all her fiber projects. She layers techniques just as she layers ideas in each work. You feel changed in some way when you view her work," said Geraldine Velasquez, GCU professor of art and design.
Dolan's work was recently published in Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project by Karey Bresenhan; Interna-tional Quilt Festival Class Catalog, Summer 2006; and Cloth, Paper, Scissors Magazine, Winter 2005, Issue 5.
Lunney's work was recently been published in Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project by Karey Bresenhan; Inter-national Quilt Festival Class Catalog, Fall 2003; American Quilt Study Group Blanket Statements Newsletter, Winter 2006; and Studio Art Quilters Associates Journal, Winter 2006.
The exhibit, opening reception and lecture are all free and open to the public. The M. Christina Geis Art Gallery is on the second floor of the Arts and Science Center on the GCU Lakewood campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
