Shooter from NYC gets 18 years

A New York City man arrested for shooting a Maple Leaf Park resident in August 2005 was sentenced to 18 years for attempted murder Oct. 27 by state Superior Court Judge Wendell Daniels, said Capt. Jeff Harper of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Reggie Morrison, 27, was originally charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose after shooting a Brick man once in the back and once in the arm outside his apartment on Aug. 13, 2005. He survived.

Morrison must serve 85 percent of his time before he may be considered for parole, Harper said.
