Local man hurt in early morning 2-car collision BRICK TOWNSHIP - An elderly township man received head and neck injuries after he was partially ejected from his minivan in a two-car collision on Sally Ike Road recently, police said. James F. Carroll Jr., 71, was thrown from his vehicle by the force of the impact and was pinned under the minivan in the Nov. 29 accident, police said. Caroll was trying to make a left turn onto Sally Ike Road from Dakota Drive at 6:33 a.m. when his minivan and a Chevy pickup truck driven by Gregory S. Brower, 42, Brick, collided, police said. Brower was traveling northbound on Sally Ike Road when his car struck the minivan, causing it to turn over on the passenger side, police said. Caroll, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was extricated from his vehicle by members of the Herbertsville Fire Department, police said. He was treated at the scene by Brick Township Police emergency medical services and MONOC paramedics before he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, police said. The accident is under investigation by Patrolman Jeffrey Lindquist and Sgt. Donald Ling of the department's traffic safety unit.
