      Popular coach resigns to spend time with family, pursue master's degree
            Vin Falkiewicz had a hectic day on Sunday, which included a bittersweet get-together early in the day with his high school football coach at Brick Memorial, Fred Sprengel. It was during that meeting that Falkiewicz learned of his coach's decision to resign to pursue his master's degree and to devote more time to his family.

            The Twin County Crew girls soccer team is holding tryouts for the U15 fall season for female soccer players born between Aug. 1, 1992, and July 31, 1993. The Crew competes in MAPS and the Region I league, which requires committed, high-level players. Tryouts will be held in the month of May every Wednesday and Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Drum Point Soccer Complex in Brick.

      DePalma, Deering play well at hockey showcase
            Alex DePalma Jr. and Matt Deering of the Brick Hockey Club have not made college decisions but they feel USA Hockey's all-star Chicago Showcase could enhance their futures. Both had fine efforts for Team New Jersey, which went 0-2-2 in the showcase late last week. New Jersey played for the first time ever in Pool A with seven other teams. Deering was the goalie in both ties.
