Latest PTSO organization was not the first

In your article regarding Robert Anderson of Brick Memorial High School, in the June 28 paper, mention was made of the parent-teacher-student organization at the high school. It was stated in the paper that this was the first PTSO in the school's history. That information was incorrect.

A PTSO was formed at Brick Memorial High School in 1995 while M. Daniel Regan was principal. The organization held three Career Fairs in 1995, 1996 and 1997. It also was instrumental in providing a forum for students to be able to bring issues of concern to the administration.

Unfortunately, that PTSO did not survive into the new millennium. I am sure that Danny Regan, who recently died, would have been glad that a new PTSO has formed. Many parents feel that their children do not need them as much when they enter high school. One only has to read the newspaper or listen to the TV news to realize teenagers need their parents more.
