      Bats go quiet for two Brick 12-year-old teams
            Brick's Little League 12-year-old all-star teams saw their seasons come to a quick ending. While Brick American was unable to advance out of pool play after going 2-2 and losing on tiebreaker run-scoring criteria against other 2-2 teams, Brick National reached the District 18 tournament, but lost, 12-0, on Sunday to Holbrook at Berkeley.

      Brick American team is ready for a rematch
            After exploding through its first three games with 36 runs, Brick American's Senior All-Stars must fight their way out of the losers' bracket of the District 18 double-elimination tournament to get a rematch with Toms River. Brick American played last night at home against the winner of Holbrook-Toms River East with the hope of a weekend game.

            When Bob Auriemma rejoined his high school football coach from Memorial High School in West New York - Warren Wolf, an assistant at Memorial at the time - at Brick Township and eventually succeeded Wolf as Brick's hockey coach, he never would have imagined it would be a 40-year commitment.

            Baseball games, just like any other sporting events, can be wild ones between Brick Township and Brick Memorial. Fans may remember Brick Memorial pulling out a victory over Brick Township in its last at-bat, 6-5, at FirstEnergy Park this spring. And the American Legion season has proven no different.

      Streilein continues her success at Brandeis
            No one at Brandeis University doubted that Kate Streilein of Brick had the savvy and skills to pitch and play first base and the good eye to hit for average. But power? That was a newfound asset for the junior, who belted 11 home runs and was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches All-New England team this spring as a second team at-large selection.

            The Brick Hit-N-Runs won their division in the B-Mac girls softball league on June 11. The players are Mariah Schiessl, Emily Andodide, Samantha Herkimer, Nicole DiFaglio, Ellen Lund, Jaclyn Trozzi, Sierra Culloo, Nicole Byrne, Jacely Valdora, Samantha Mandaro, Madeline Lacy, Taylor Dolan, Ashley Anderson and Gianna Tufaro. The coaches are Carmella Schiessl, Joe Dolan and Mike Lacy.
