Jersey Shore Animal Center Golf Classic

The Jersey Shore Animal Center invites the public to join them for a day of golf, food and fun at the sixth annual Golf Classic slated for Sept. 24 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood. Teeoff will be at 1 p.m.

The outing will include lunch and dinner, greens fees, open bar and an awards ceremony. Prizes will be awarded for various contests including a "Hole-in-One Car." There will be a putting contest and an auction.

All are invited to participate in the event. The registration fee is $195 per person or $750 for a foursome. Proceeds will benefit the homeless animals at the shelter and aid them in their mission to rescue and care for unwanted, abandoned, abused and sick animals and find responsible, loving homes for them.

For registration forms, sponsorship information and gift auction donations, contact (732) 920-1600, ext. 208 or visit www.jerseyshoreanimalcenter.org.

Auction items sought for OCC Foundation Gala

The Ocean County College (OCC) Foundation will host "An Evening Under the Stars Gala" Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. on the college's main campus located on College Drive in Toms River. Stephen Leone and his wife, Judith, of Toms River, will be honored as Humanitarians of the Year. Gala proceeds will support the Reach for the Stars Campaign, a fundraising campaign to support the renovation and renewal of the Novins Planetarium.

The evening's festivities will include live entertainment, food and live and silent auctions.

According to Sandy Broughton, OCC Foundation executive director, the foundation is still in need of "high-end" auction items. Donations are being accepted for restaurant and merchandise gift certificates, sports memorabilia, golf outings, tickets to sporting events, entertainment and recreation packages in addition to Broadway theater tickets, day spa certificates, vacation packages, collectibles, specialty items, artwork and gourmet baskets. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Tickets for the event are $200 per person. For tickets, details, donations and sponsorship information, call (732) 255-0492.
