      Theater group blindsided by Civic Center sale
            On Nov. 28 the Brick Council members voted on a bond ordinance that included funds for a small theater for the Brick Community Players. The township planned to renovate two stores in the Civic Plaza and the architect drew up the plans to everyone's satisfaction.

      Reader questions township's Ocean Ice Palace purchase
            Now Brick has plans to buy the Ocean Ice Palace for approximately $5.25 million. On the surface it doesn't look bad, but these are some of the other things that were not discussed. In December, Toms River opened its indoor ice skating rink at Winding River Park, and the Ocean Ice Palace now has competition from a new facility.

      Steve Acropolis should be called for icing penalty
            In Brick, we have a long-standing community that gets involved in ice hockey. We have also turned out some very distinguished players. The township of Brick in what many people are calling a back room deal, with Council President Steve Acropolis at the centerline, is buying the Ocean Ice Rink.
