      'Tools for Teens' offers skills for parents, teens
            To help teens and their parents through the sometimes trying and difficult teenage years, several information programs and discussions are being offered by Tools for Teens, a partnership formed by several Ocean County organizations. The Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington St., is hosting the programs.

      Ocean County Mall to host blood drive
            In an effort to meet the needs of the community's growing demand for blood, Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave., Toms River, will sponsor a blood drive from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20. "Our community's supply of blood is increasingly low," said a New Jersey Blood Services representative.

      Ocean County College to host employment events
            Ocean County College, College Drive, Toms River, will host two employment events. A fall job fair will be held Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Solar Lounge, College Center. Employers will review applications, conduct interviews and hire prospective employees. Résumés and appropriate dress are suggested.

      St. Dominic PTA to hold gala Nov. 16
            The St. Dominic PTA will hold its 26th annual fall auction Nov. 16 at the Sheraton Hotel in Eatontown. The theme of this year's event is "Castles in the Sand." Doors will open at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $40 per person and include admission, door prize ticket, and a fourcourse dinner.

      Brick church will serve Thanksgiving dinner
            A complimentary Thanksgiving dinner, sponsored by the Church of the Epiphany, 615 Thiele Road, Brick, will be offered at noon Nov. 22.       'Trunk or treat' hosted by Brick township
            Brick Township will host a community Halloween event at the Drum Point Sports Complex from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30. Residents are invited to bring their cars to the complex, decorate them, then pop the trunk and have the children "trunk or treat" from car to car. There will be a hayride, pumpkin patch and costume parade.

      NAMI to offer education and support to parents
            The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) of Ocean County, a nonprofit organization, invites parents and other caregivers of children and youths up to age 22 to attend "Visions for Tomorrow," a free three-session class that will begin Nov. 3.

      Knights of Columbus host Radio City trip
            The Knights of Columbus Council 836, Brick, will host a trip to see The Rockettes perform in the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in New York City Dec. 11. The cost of $130 per person includes deluxe bus transportation; first mezzanine reserved seats at Radio City Music Hall for an 11 a.m.

      Arbor Day Foundation offers 10 free trees
            Ten free trees, all of which are autumn classics, will be given to each person who joins The Arbor Day Foundation during October. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation's Trees for America campaign, a program dedicated to environmental stewardship through the planting of trees.

      Brick Township Police Dept. provides drug hotline
            The Brick Township Police Department provides a drug hotline for citizens to report drug-related activity. The hotline was established as a means of providing the public with the opportunity to anonymously report drug activities in their neighborhood. It is answered and monitored by detectives assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit. Messages are checked on a daily basis.

      English conversation group leaders sought
            The Ocean County Library is looking for volunteers to lead an English conversation group at several of its branches. Locally, the conversation groups will be offered at the Brick, Jackson, Lakewood, Plumsted, Point Pleasant Beach and Toms River branches.
