      Poplaski looks to end career on a high note
      Township gymnastics star aiming to gain all-around crown
            Lindsay Poplaski is ready to cap her high school gymnastics career at Brick Township with the one thing that still is in front of her - the all around championship. "I'm excited. I can't wait," said an enthused Poplaski who makes her fourth trip to the NJSIAA finals in the all around that takes place at Hunterdon Central in Flemington starting at 3 p.m.

      Bass fishing starting to come alive in area
            Surf reports from Ortley Beach north to the Sandy Hook rips are finally producing some keeper size bass. Wind conditions made it tough to get out but anglers off the surf made up for it. Heavier rods and weight were able to produce bass from 12-18 pounds. According to surf anglers, there are plenty of bass headed our way.

      Memorial loses in final seconds to Mid North
            It was the most frustrating loss in Walter Currie's brief tenure as Brick Memorial's new football coach. The Mustangs built a 10-0 lead that they held until Middletown North marched 23 plays for 74 yards and scored on a 4-yard pass reception with nine seconds left to topple the injury-plagued Mustangs, 14-10, in Shore Conference American Division action.

            Two runners in Brick township's two high schools are left competing in cross country season and Andrew Brodeur and Kristen Perrine, both of Brick Memorial, are one good race away from making the NJSIAA Meet of Champions (MOC).

            Beating a team three times in the same season is the toughest thing to do in high school sports and is a rarity, especially if that losing team is Brick Memorial's girls soccer team.

      Brick Dragons' youth season comes to an end
            Brick Dragons' youth football season came to an end over the weekend. The Junior Pee Wee White team that went 9-0-1 through the season and had allowed only two touchdowns, lost to Hunterdon, 19-0, in the Pop Warner regional qualifier playoff on Saturday In Hillsborough.
