      Knights of Columbus to host Radio City trip
            The Knights of Columbus Council 836, Brick, will host a trip to see The Rockettes perform in the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in New York City Dec. 11. The cost of $130 per person includes deluxe bus transportation; first mezzanine reserved seats at Radio City Music Hall for an 11 a.m.

      Pet photos with Santa at animal shelter Dec. 8, 9
            Santa will be stopping by the Jersey Shore Animal Center, 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, for pet photos. Donation is $10 per photo and all proceeds benefit the homeless animals at the center. All pet types are welcome and must be safely contained or on a leash.       Donations urgently needed in blood supply
            New Jersey Blood Services has issued a critical need for blood as donations have dropped by over 15 percent from one year ago. They will be conducting blood drives at the following locations: Jenkinson's Boardwalk, 300 Ocean Ave., Point Pleasant, from 2-7 p.m. on Dec. 21.

      Brick Township Police Dept. Drug Hotline
            The Brick Township Police Department provides a "Drug Hotline" for citizens to report drug-related activity. The hotline was established as a means of providing the public with the opportunity to anonymously report drug activities in their neighborhood. It is answered and monitored by detectives assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit. Messages are checked on a daily basis.

      Learn-to-skate ice hockey program to begin Dec. 8
            The Brick Hockey Club will begin its "Mite C" learn-to-skate ice hockey program at 5:25 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Ocean Ice Palace, 197 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. Designed for boys and girls age 9 and younger who are interested in hockey, the program develops a foundation of skating and introduces skill development and techniques.

      Brick Reservoir extends hours for fall season
            The chairman and board of commissioners of the Brick Township Municipal Utilities have considered requests by visitors to the Brick Reservoir to extend the hours for the fall season. The established hours for fall are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Effective immediately, modifications in employee work schedules will allow the facility to be open from 6:30 a.m. and remain open until 9 p.

      Local scouts attend swearing-in ceremony
            As part of a Citizenship Badge requirement, The Boy Scouts from Pack 163, Den 2, attended the Nov. 20 township meeting at which Mayor Acropolis was sworn in. The boys were able to perform the color guard ceremony and met with both Mayor Acropolis and Councilman Matthews, who explained the role of elected officials.

            The Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association (JSPRAA), Red Bank, is accepting entries for its 2007 James R.             The Ocean County Library has a new Web address, www.theocean-countylibrary. org. The library commission approved the change during its regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 13. The change was necessary due to the registration expiration of its previous domain name in October.

      Planetarium gets closer to $1.5 million goal
            The Ocean County College (OCC) Foundation's "Reach for the Stars" campaign has received over $1.3 million to date in pledges, donations and grants in support of the renovation and renewal of the Robert J. Novins Planetarium. The campaign is approximately $200,000 away from meeting its $1.5 million goal.
