Free seminars on growing technology at OCVTS

The Adult Education Division of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) is offering a free seminar on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology April 2, 7-9 p.m. The seminar will be presented at Ocean County Vocational Technical School, 1299 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. Advance registration is required by calling (732) 473-3131.

GIS technology is a system for capturing, analyzing and managing data that is spatially related to the earth. This technology can be used for homeland security, facilities management, environmental impact analysis, urban planning, cartography, scientific research, sales, marketing and much more.

The free seminar will feature specific applications in law enforcement, real estate and economic development. Participants will see how GIS is used to solve problems in many areas of the economy.

According to the press release, Geographic Information Systems technology is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing technology-related careers. Attendees will find out more about the growing career opportunities as well as the impact of GIS technology on our everyday lives.

The seminar will be presented by Eddie Hanebuth, president of Digital Quest; Joe Latigona from the Medford Police Department and Scott Weller of James F. Bujak & Associates.
