Old Foodtown site should be a park, not a ratable

I am somewhat of a newcomer to Brick Township and have been a homeowner for six years.

As we often drive down Route 70 west on our sopping excursions, we pass the former Foodtown property. We notice the beautiful lake and a picnic table with people eating lunch or someone fishing from the shore.

If the property were to be sold to a developer, as is currently contemplated, it would be lost forever. There could be another Home Depot, a five or six-story hotel, office buildings, condos, and who knows what else?

Who would be enjoying the gorgeous view? Certainly not the township residents.

This is a property crying out to be used as a park for the enjoyment of all the people who live in Brick, as well as the future generations to come. Please let the people of Brick have a place to relax, enjoy the view and observe nature and have access to the lake.

Do not sell this property for its monetary value, and do not rush into any contracts to sell our inheritance.

Think this one over because once it's sold, it's gone.

Joe Rosendale
