      Football memorial scholarship to be awarded
            The Brick Township Junior Sports League will once again award The Anthony F. Mancino Memorial Scholarships to eligible Brick Township High School football players who will graduate in 2008, based upon academics and need. Tony Mancino was a football player on three Brick Township High School state championship teams in the 1960s.

      Brick Youth Club to hold dances, open gym time
            The Brick Youth Club (BYC) will hold several winter dances for middle school students, with more dates to follow throughout the school year. Dances will start at 7 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. and will be held on Jan. 25, Feb. 15, Feb. 29 and March 21. Prompt pick-up is appreciated. Reservations will be taken from the Monday prior to the event through Thursday night.

      BCCT to host a cabaret and dinner Feb. 2
            The Brick Children's Community Theatre (BCCT) will host a night of entertainment and dinner for its winter fundraiser. The night begins at 6 p.m. with dinner donated by Carrabba's Italian Grill of Brick. The entertainment follows at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Reservations are required by Jan. 25.       State boating safety certificate offered
            The U.S. Coast Guard Division 16 is offering a boating safety certificate test for experienced boaters to be in compliance with New Jersey State marine requirements. The fee for the test is $25 andwill be given at 8 a.m. on Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and Feb. 16 at the Brick Civic Center, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick.

      Ireland tour sponsored by Ocean County College
            Ocean County College (OCC) will sponsor an Ireland tour from June 22 to July 2. It is open to all members of the community. The tour includes transport by luxury motor coach with a driver/guide for 10 days. Hotel accommodations include private bath for nine nights. Scheduled meals include nine full breakfasts and seven dinners.

      Library Commission elects new officials
            The Ocean County Library Commission elected new officers and approved appointments during its Jan. 16 reorganization meeting held at the library's Toms River branch, 101 Washington Street. Joseph J. Harding, Lavallette, was elected to a one-year term as Commission Chairman. He replaces Eleanor E. Hyres, who served in the position for three consecutive one-year terms.

      Friends of the Brick Library plans spring trip
            The Friends of the Brick Library will take its spring trip to the Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, on April 23. The day will include a professional guided tour of the grounds, a boxed, gourmet lunch provided by Chez Alice Café, and free time to wander and enjoy the spring landscape.

            The Township of Brick is inviting high school students to participate in a contest to design a new logo for the municipal television station. The logo will be used to identify and promote the station.

      St. Dominic's to celebrate Catholic Schools Week
            In celebration of Catholic SchoolsWeek, St. Dominic School, Brick, invites parents, parishioners and the community to see all the ways its students "light the way" in church and society. On Jan. 27 at 9 a.m., a special Catholic Schools Week Mass will be followed by a Communion breakfast sponsored by the PTA. On Jan. 28, a 1:15 p.m.
