      Reader defends selection process for police chief
            I t is nice to know that Michael G. Crelin Sr. agrees with me concerning Civil Service promotion guidelines. However, as of this writing, I'm not in a fighting mood but I am concerned with his letter and how he would justify stating that Mayor Steve Acropolis swayed the Brick Township Council to promote the new police chief.

      Lacey MUA job a conflict of interest, reader says
            Iread in the paper that Freeholder Lacey has applied for the job of Brick Township Municipal Utility's Authority (MUA) executive director. I have no knowledge ofMr. Lacey's qualifications for this position. If he is the best-qualified candidate, he should get the job. But if he is not, he should not get the job.
