      One-day boating course to be offered
            The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 16-05 of Brick will offer the "Americas Boating Course" from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 22, April 5, April 19, June 7 and Oct. 4 at the Brick Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick.

      Tom Giannattasio Jr. scholarship to be offered
            The Tom Giannattasio Jr. Memorial Fund will be presenting to a 2008 graduating senior of Brick Township High School and Brick Memorial High School a $500 scholarship check to one graduate in each school in memory of Tom Jr. Tom was a 1989 graduate of Brick Township High School as well as a dedicated volunteer in Brick Township since his early teens.

      Jersey Shore Animal Center to host telethon
            Tune in from 1-9 p.m. Feb. 23 for the Jersey Shore Animal Center's annual telethon to be televised on Comcast Channel 97 in Brick. The show will feature adopted pets with their new families, pet therapists, animal trainers, local K-9 officers and their dogs, wildlife rehabilitators, local veterinarians and animals up for adoption.

      Brick Community Players to hold auditions
            The Guild Theatreworks, formerly the Brick Community Players, will hold auditions for its 17th annual Brick talent show at 7 p.m. March 3 at the Veterans Elementary School, 103 Hendrickson Ave., Brick. A diversified selection of talents is sought. Applicants should provide their own accompaniment. A CD and tape player will be provided.

      Football memorial scholarship to be awarded
            The Brick Township Junior Sports League will once again award The Anthony F. Mancino Memorial Scholarships to eligible Brick Township High School football players who will graduate in 2008, based upon academics and need. Tony Mancino was a football player on three Brick Township High School state championship teams in the 1960s.

      Friends of the Brick Library plans spring trip
            The Friends of the Brick Library will take its spring trip to the Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, onApril 23. The day will include a professional guided tour of the grounds, a boxed, gourmet lunch provided by Chez Alice Café, and free time to wander and enjoy the spring landscape. The bus will depart from the Brick Library at 9:30 a.m.

            The Brick Township Policemen's BenevolentAssociation (PBA) will hold its 19th annual "Helping Hands Benefit Basketball Game" at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. Tickets are $2 for children and $3 for adults.

      Brick Youth Club to hold dances, open gym time
            The Brick Youth Club (BYC) will hold several winter dances for middle school students, with more dates to follow throughout the school year. Dances will start at 7 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. and will be held on Feb. 29 and March 21. Prompt pickup is appreciated. Reservations will be taken from the Monday prior to the event through Thursday night.

      Ocean County College to offer Praxis Review
            Ocean County College will offer Praxis Review sessions in February at the college's main campus on College Drive in Toms River. Reviews in general science, elementary education, social studies, mid- dle school math and English language, literature and composition will be offered at a cost of $175 per course.
