One-day boating course to be offered

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 16-05 of Brick will offer the "Americas Boating Course" from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 22, April 5, April 19, June 7 and Oct. 4 at the Brick Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick.

The boater education and safety law now being enforced in New Jersey mandates that all persons age 16 and older who operate power vessels exceeding 12 feet in length or a Jet Ski must have taken a boating course to do so. Persons born after Dec. 31, 1948, must take the course before June 1, 2008.

Taking this one-day course satisfies all of the law's requirements.

The $50 per person fee includes the textbook, a CD and all materials. Beverages and snacks will be provided throughout the day. Requirements are that you must be at least 16 years old and that you must register by calling (732) 899-0368. Father's Day gift certificates for the course are available.
