      Junior loses to archrival 7-1
            Steve Santos had his sights set on a state championship after getting eliminated early in the tournament last year and he came very close this time.

      Youth baseball teams look for big results this spring
            Many players on Brick Township's baseball team will have a pretty rounded perspective of the game and with good reason. A number of them also play in Big League Baseball for Brick National, which is a wooden bat program. And with that season getting under way in less than two weeks, players were in the cages trying to get in as many swings as possible.

            While Brick Memorial's hockey team got a chance to play for another day in the NJSIAATournament, taking on Steinert onMonday night this week, Brick Township stowed away its gear after a fine season came to an end in the tournament last week.

      Summer flounder season is almost here
            High winds and nasty weather keep most anglers at bay. Local reports of bass being picked from beaches on blood worms along the Jersey Shore but not much to discuss until water temperatures rise. The 2008 summer flounder regulations are out with an eight-fish, 18-inch limit, starting May 24 through Sept. 7.

      High school lacrosse teams prepare for '08 season
            Just a couple of days after seeing his ice hockey season end at Brick Township in the state tournament, James Murphy was back in action but in a different setting. The senior was drenched practicing in a downpour last Friday during the opening day of spring practices for his school's lacrosse team. But he didn't mind the adverse weather conditions.
