Reader upset with 'smear' letter about BOE members Former Board of Education member John Talty wrote a nasty letter that was recently published attacking Board of Education members Frank Pannucci and Dan Rosa. Talty lost his bid for re-election after one term and sought the board's approval recently when he interviewed to be appointed to Councilman DeLuca's vacant seat. When the board decided not to support Talty, he became bitter and sour and is now on a personal vendetta filled with untruths and negativity. First, he attacks Frank Pannucci, who is one of the most respected members of our community. Pannucci is a good man and has served our community well. The man's entire life is dedicated to education, and I take great offense, Mr. Talty, to your smearing his good name. Contrary to your belief, Pannucci has done more good for this community in his years of service than you would like to admit. You further went on to insinuate that Dan Rosa has been illegally profiting by selling Tshirts from his company to school sports teams. You know full well that Rosa went out of his way to get a legal opinion from the school board attorney saying that he was in no conflict and had done nothing illegal. You also fail to mention the numerous charitable donations Rosa has given back to the community with his T-shirts, such as to numerous Relay for Life teams, sports teams and various other civic organizations. He prints their team shirts for free and donates them. Rosa is a full-time professional firefighter and makes a very nice living with his honorable profession, and for you to try and paint him in a negative light for your own personal vendetta is distasteful. You publicly support the team of Pifko, Leone and Terrebush in this school board election, so it is obvious why you try and smear Pannucci and Rosa's good names. I just hope the candidates that you so openly endorse do not share the same venomous attitude that you do. Peter J. Straniero Brick |
