      Memorial's Brodeur also looking for a state title
            Itwas a big two days for Ryisha Boyd, the star long-jumper and sprinter for Brick Township's girls track and field team. On Tuesday, Boyd signed a national letter of intent for the University of Illinois, where she officially visited in May.

            Monmouth University's Ed Skowronski became the second Hawk this weekend to take home All-East Region honors on the final day of the 2008 NCAA East Regional Championships held on the campus of Florida State. Skowronski took home All-Region honors for the second straight year in the hammer, finishing sixth with a throw of 203' 3".

            Wagner College ace Joe Testa of Brick came into the season with the title of "Pitcher You Don't Want to Face" and fulfilled that reputation well enough through the season to end it with another acknowledgment: the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year.

      Another disappointing week for bass anglers
            It seems that everyone has the bluefish blues. The Raritan Bay is producing very few, if any, keeper bass. This time last year you could not miss catching a trophy bass. Bass are being caught but they are few and far between. Bunker are plentiful in the bay if you get them early before Great Kills Harbor is jammed upwith 50 boats clogging the entrance.
