      Animal center to sponsor dog washes this summer
            The Jersey Shore Animal Center (JSAC), 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, is sponsoring a dog wash from noon to 3 p.m. July 12, 13, Aug. 9, 10, Sept. 13 and 14. No appointment is necessary.       'Christmas in July' craft fair to be held July 19
            The Church of the Visitation, Mantoloking Road, Brick, will be hosting a "Christmas in July" craft fair 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 19 in the church auditorium. There will be a wide range of specialtycrafted items available, including jewelry, wood, quilts, florals, home decorating and much more. A snack window as well as a visit with Santa will be available.

      Tennis tournament to benefit Dottie's House
            Childers Sotheby's International Realty will host its third annual Jersey Shore Tennis Open Tournament to benefit Dottie'sHouse on July 26 at Toms River Country Club, 419 Washington St. All of the proceeds will be donated to Dottie's House, which provides long-term transitional housing for women and children who have survived domestic violence.

            "Crop for Avery," a scrapbooking fundraiser to assist Avery Lubrecht, a 4- year-old Brick resident who was diagnosed with brain cancer, will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 13 at the Pioneer Fire Company, Drum Point Road, Brick.

      B-MAC to host golf tournament July 28
            The Brick Municipal Alliance Committee on Alcoholism, Drug Abuse and Youth Service (B-MAC) will host its seventh annual golf tournament on July 28 at the Eagle Ridge Country Club, Lakewood. The tournament begins with registration and breakfast at 7 a.m., shotgun start at 8 a.m. and a barbecue luncheon with prizes awarded at 1 p.m. The fee is $150 per person.

      Library to host summer reading program
            The Ocean County Library has kicked off its annual summer reading program and invites all county residents to take part. The reading program is open to children, teens and adults. In each program, a person submits a coupon for each book they read. Coupons will be drawn at each branch for local prizes.

      Blood Drive Challenge winners announced
            Juniors and seniors in most Monmouth and Ocean County high schools have been vying to see whose school would donate the most blood in the 2008 Blood Drive Challenge. The high school that donated the highest percentage of blood was Keansburg High School. Students there raised 111 units of blood out of 205 students.

      Portion of BlueClaws tickets to benefit fund
            A Lakewood BlueClaws fundraising event to benefit the Tom Giannattasio Jr. Memorial Fund will take place at FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood, on July 13. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the game starts at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $9. A portion from every ticket sold will be donated to the memorial fund as long as they are purchased from Alert Ambulance or through the memorial fund.
